Weihnachtsmarkt Rathausmarkt in Hamburg

HamburgArts & EntertainmentFestivals & FairsChristmas Markets

Sausages that defy normal sausage length (yes that is me in the picture), the warmest of Glühwein, and more Christmas decorations than I have ever imagined existed… yes, this is how they do markets in Germany!
I loved the Christmas stalls, making everything form hand crafted jigsaws to glass angel decorations, however I would recommend hunting around as some of the stock overlaps but the prices vary greatly. Make sure you’re around to watch poor Santa get hoisted into the sleigh and run to the tower and back high above your head, appropriate music accompanying his ride. Make sure you keep your souvenir mug (if you’re really not into that then trade it back for a 2 euro return) and swap it out for a clean one.
After my visit here I can safely say I know what a German Christmas Market should look like, and now I will be resolved to feeling a tad sad when I visit the English versions!
