Waverly Cemetery, Sydney

SydneyArts & Entertainment

Waverly Cemetery began in 1877, and has over 50,000 grave stones.
Most Sydneysiders joke that you don’t get a piece of real estate this good until you die, purely as it has one of the most beautiful views of the ocean, set in the middle of the run of Sydney’s most popular beaches, high on a cliff face.
If you know your history then you can also visit Jules Francoise Archibald, founder and editor of The Bulletin an Australian newspaper, and founder and benefactor of an annual coveted artist prize.
But in teh end it is also just a tranquil place to watch the sunset.
