General Post Office in Dublin

DublinArts & EntertainmentLandmarks

The GPO is a long standig icon on Irish freedom and nationalism, due to the Easter Rising of 1916, when it acted as the headquaters of the uprising.
Still today the peppered holes mark the coloums at the facade, showing the damage of bullets from the altercation. For me, this is one of the eye opening parts of Dublins architecture, a daily reminder of the struggles of the past.
